Pittsburgh-Area Giant Eagle Flu Vaccination Clinics

PITTSBURGH -- Giant Eagle has announced their lastest schedule of flu vaccination clinics.Starting Oct. 1, customers should visit their local Giant Eagle pharmacy or GiantEagle.com for information on specific clinic dates and times.
With the flu season approaching, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends receiving a flu shot as the best method of prevention. In general, anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu can get vaccinated. However, certain people should get vaccinated each year either because they are at high risk of having serious flu-related complications or because they live with or care for high risk persons.
Centers for Disease and Control high-risk patient guidelines:
65 years of age or older reside in a nursing home or chronic care facility chronic heart and lung conditions, including asthma chronic metabolic disease such as kidney, blood or diabetes conditions that can compromise respiratory function or increase risk of aspiration children receiving long-term aspirin therapy pregnant women people who are immuno-suppressed healthcare workers directly involved in patient care out-of-home caregivers or household contacts for children less than six months oldGiant Eagle pharmacists will offer flu vaccinations to those ages 18 and older.
Flu vaccinations cost $30 and pneumonia vaccinations cost $40. Some Medicare plans can be billed directly for vaccinations involving customers covered by their health plans. Customers are encouraged to check with their Medicare provider for details. All vaccinations will be administered by qualified Giant Eagle pharmacists.ALLEGHENY COUNTY:
