$50,000 Reward Offered For Post Office Robber

Armed Man Takes Money In Langeloth Post Office Robbery

POSTED: 2:14 pm EDT October 9, 2008
UPDATED: 3:45 pm EDT October 15, 2008

Investigators are offering a reward up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who robbed a post office last week.

The post office in the Langeloth community of Washington County, near Burgettstown, was robbed on Oct. 9.

Smith Township Police Chief Winford LaRue said a man armed with a handgun forced an employee toward the back of the building on Langeloth Road and locked her in a bathroom at about 10 a.m.

Customers eventually let the postal worker out. She was not hurt.

"I was going to mail out a picture. When I went on to the other side where (the employee) was at, I didn't see anybody. I heard somebody say, 'Help me, help me.' She banged on the door," one witness said.

All of the money from the front cash drawer was taken, WTAE Channel 4 Action News reported.

A news release from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service describes the robber as a white male in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 190 pounds, with a medium build and light brown hair.

Anyone who has information in the case can call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455.
