Armed Man Barricaded In Somerset County House Arrested
Family Evacuates Stoystown Home After Man Loads Handgun

STOYSTOWN, Pa. -- A man barricaded himself inside his Somerset County home overnight after a domestic dispute with his wife and his in-laws, state police said.Jason Merringer, 40, of Stoystown, loaded a 22-caliber handgun and threatened to hurt himself at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, state police said. At that point, Merringer's wife, her parents and the couple's two girls, ages 10 and 14, evacuated the house.Merringer remained inside the house when police arrived at the scene. He refused to leave his house for about two hours, at which point the state police Special Emergency Response Team went to the scene.
After about four more hours, Merringer left the house on his own, where officers waiting outside arrested him. Authorities took Merringer to Somerset Hospital for an evaluation.State police did not release further information regarding the investigation, which continued Saturday.
