Bill Cowher-To-Cleveland Browns Rumor Resurfaces

Browns May Have Interest In Ex-Pittsburgh Steelers Coach

UPDATED: 12:02 pm EST November 21, 2008

Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher is being rumored -- again -- as the possible next coach of Pittsburgh's division rival, the Cleveland Browns.

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that a source says the Browns have approached Cowher about the job -- which is currently held by Romeo Crennel -- and will offer Cowher at least $8 million.

A Web site called Cowher09.com sells orange T-shirts with Cowher caricatures, and it has a petition that fans can sign to tell the Browns to hire Cowher.

Cowher played for the old Cleveland Browns in the 1980s -- before they left town and became the Baltimore Ravens -- and later served as their special teams coach and defensive backs coach.

Cowher retired from coaching after the Steelers' 2006 season. He is a game-day analyst with CBS Sports.
