Drilling Rig Explodes Into Flames In Washington County
Fallowfield Township Firefighters Extinguish Fire Within Minutes

FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A rig used to drill for methane gas exploded in Washington County on Monday night.Fallowfield Township firefighters arrived in the 2100 block of Route 481 shortly after 9 p.m. and found a fire throughout the drilling rig. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within minutes.Authorities told WTAE Channel 4 Action News that the rig is owned by North East Energy. A cause of the fire was not immediately released.
