No charges will be filed in connection with the death of a Washington man who was struck by a newspaper van early Friday, police said.

An Observer-Reporter van hit the man -- identified as Danny L. Reed, 52 -- just after 4 a.m. on Jefferson Avenue in Washington.

The driver -- who was delivering papers -- told police that Reed ran in front of the vehicle near the Comfort Lounge, Coroner Tim Warco said.

City police said the driver did not appear to be speeding or doing anything improper, and the driver stopped and called 911 after hitting Reed.
