Car Hits, Kills Man At Donora-Monessen Bridge Ramp

ROSTRAVER, Pa. -- A man was struck and killed while walking near a Donora-Monessen Bridge ramp in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.Police said the man, who has not been identified yet, was walking toward the Washington County side of the bridge when he was hit by a car at about 11 p.m. Thursday.Signs posted on the bridge tell pedestrians not to walk on the span, which connects Washington and Westmoreland counties over the Monongahela River.
Police said the accident happened near the spot where the Vance DeiCas Highway meets the bridge ramp.No charges have been filed against the driver.The incident is still under investigation, but Rostraver police Chief Greg Resetar told WTAE Channel 4's news exchange partners at the Pittsburgh Tribune Review that "it appears it was a tragic scenario."
